ABOUT

THE 4th GLOBAL RESEARCH PLATFORM WORKSHOP

October 9-10, 2023
Limassol, Cyprus

The Global Research Platform (GRP) is an international scientific collaboration to create innovative advanced ubiquitous services that integrate resources around the globe at speeds of gigabits and terabits per second, especially for large-scale data-intensive science research. GRP focuses on design, implementation, and operation strategies for next-generation distributed services and infrastructure to facilitate high-performance data gathering, analytics, transport, computing, and storage among multiple science sites at 100 Gbps or higher. GRP community partners are in North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East and Australia, and work together to customize international fabrics and distributed cyberinfrastructure to support optimal data-intensive scientific workflows.

The 4th GRP Workshop (4GRP) focuses on recent and emerging advances in architectures, services, technologies, and infrastructures. Speakers present their innovations and explain how their work directly support global science research. The 4GRP Workshop program is being designed around six themes: (1) Large-Scale Global Science; (2) Next-Generation Research Platforms; (3) Orchestration Among Multiple Domains; (4) High-Fidelity Flow Monitoring, Visualization, Analytics, Diagnostic Algorithms, Event Correlation AI/ML/DL; (5) International Testbeds for Data-Intensive Science and the Transition to Tbps-800G-400G WANs; and, (6) Enhancements of Major R&E Networks and Open Exchange Points.
RELATED MEETING
4GRP is co-located with the 19th IEEE International Conference on e-Science. Both audiences share common interests, content, and culture. Co-location provides attendees with the option to register for both events.
REGISTRATION
See the eScience conference Registration site to register for the 4GRP Workshop. Early registration ends August 14, 2023. Late registration starts August 15. You can also register onsite.
The EasyConference registration system lets participants register for the conference as well as book hotels, request taxi transfers to/from the airports, rent cars, and take tours, subject to availability. The system accepts changes and updates up to the closing of the online registration process before the start of the conference.
TRAVEL, VENUE, and HOTEL
You are responsible for making your own travel and hotel arrangements.
VENUE: eScience'23 will be held at the St. Raphael Resort. Book a hotel room at the St. Raphael Resort or at a hotel in the Limassol city centre, as city buses are available. More information can be found on the eScience website. Also, the EasyConference registration website provides several hotel options that can be booked through their system: St. Raphael Resort, Poseidonia Beach Hotel and Harmony Bay Hotel.
TRAVEL INFORMATION: Cyprus is served by two International Airports; Larnaca International Airport, (LCA) and Paphos International Airport (PFO). The Lufthansa group is an eScience sponsor and offers discounts for flights to LCA or PFO. From the airports, transportation (taxis, buses, car rentals) is available to take you to your hotel. More information on transportation as well as general travel information (electrical plugs, currency, banks, etc.) are on the eScience website.
VISA INFORMATION: Cyprus is a full member of the European Union. For those in need of visas, see the eScience website.
THINGS TO DO: For those who wish to do some sightseeing, the eScience website provides information on Cyprus and landmark sites in Limassol worth visiting.
